Automotive Actuators
I believe any more know how are actuators? how to work of actuator? and how to control and operating system of actuator? but this time we look back about actuators and display for automotive actuators. Actuators are devices that deliver motion in response to an electrical signal. Actuators respond to output commands issued by microcomputer. today Automotive computer are capable of issuing up to 600,000 commands per second. Automotive actuators include solenoids, relay, and motor.
The most common actuator is a valve powered by a solenoid. By energizing and the energizing the solenoid coil, the movable core of the solenoid can be made to open or close valves. The valve in turn control vacuum, fuel, vapor, air, oil or water flow. Both normally open and normally closed solenoid valves are used. A normally open solenoid closed solenoid valve remains closed when no voltage is applied.
A fuel injector is small ( look upper picture), normally closed precision solenoid valve. When the microcomputer output an injector pull the needle valve back and fuel is injected through the nozzle. The amount of fuel injected is controlled by injection pulse duration or the length of time that the coil remains energized.
The microprocessor relay digital voltage signals to an output driver (usually a power transistor). Which in turn controls an actuator. Battery voltage (B+) is supplied from the battery to actuator. ground for the actuator is provided through the microprocessor, via the output driver transistor. The control signal from the microprocessor causes the output driver transistor to open or close the ground circuit of the actuator, this controlling its operating.

good post, waiting your next post
nice info..

More complex control systems using valves requiring automatic control based on an external input require an actuator. An actuator will stroke the valve depending on its input and set-up, allowing the valve to be positioned accurately, and allowing control over a variety of requirements.
